REVEAL: You Can Ride a Damn Horse in Scribblenauts Unlimited

by John "ANC" Barnes on

Characters and items from The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario series will be making a special guest appearance in the Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited, publisher Warner Bros. revealed today. A teaser image was posted on GameStop’s Facebook page as well as the official Scribblenauts Facebook page a few days ago with silhouettes of the characters, and Internet detectives quickly unraveled the mystery. The official reveal filled in the shadows and also brought the news that adjectives cannot be applied to the Nintendo guest stars, shattering children’s dreams of summoning a Gigantic Sticky Waluigi.

The Scribblenauts games generally disallow proper nouns and trademarked characters in their dictionaries, but this isn’t the first time they’ve made an exception for some special cameos. Konami published Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts in Japan, and in the process added a bunch of classic Konami characters from Metal Gear, Castlevania, and more to the game’s dictionary.

The original *Scribblenauts* and its “summon a bunch of stuff” mechanic gained a bump in pre-release notoriety due to [an E3 video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTEUbtgpIgo "FIGHT! FIGHT!") on this very website where Kevin and Travis summoned God, a Kraken, and Einstein and had them fight each other. At least, that’s what we like to tell ourselves. *Scribblenauts Unlimited* will arrive right alongside the Wii U on launch day, November 18th.
