Call Me Crazy, But This Virtual Console Deal Doesn’t Make Any Sense:

by Ray on

As of now and until 9 a.m. PT on June 6, there’s a special deal going on for the Wii U VC where you can download one classic Capcom title and get 50% off of another. The expected catch being that the choice is restricted to only 2 titles: Ghosts n’ Goblins and Mega Man X. The former is of course, one of the most notoriously difficult games of all time and the latter something that I’m ashamed to admit I’ve yet to play (despite its reputation for being pretty fun). This is all fine and good so far but looking closely at the deal has me scratching my head. Across the board SNES games go for $7.99 a pop while software for the NES is priced at $5.99. A quick calculator consultation reveals that if I were to buy Mega Man X and get half off of Ghosts ‘n Goblins then my total comes out to $10.50. Yet if I decided to do the opposite and download Ghosts and knock half off of Mega Man then I’d only be paying $9.00. I mean, right? Here, take a look at the ad for yourself so you know I’m not making this shit up:

COME ON. Not only did someone in Capcom’s marketing department blow it here, but what kind of an idiot is going to blatantly screw themselves out of a buck fifty? That’s like…what…a whole slurpee I guess. Ok, ok, you’re right. I’ll calm down now. *WHEW* I just temporarily lost my mind for a minute.

Please excuse me.
