Baseball Prospectus projects Mario to finish with a 64.2 VORP
With a dose of Mario Superstar Baseball and a splash of Wii Sports, Mario Super Sluggers is on the way from Nintendo, as relayed by IGN.
According to what little information is presented in the article, the game will feature “richly interactive baseball action with eccentric characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe.” Translation: Nintendo-themed baseball. Obviously, the game will make use of the Wii-mote for pitching, hitting, throwing the little paper cup after getting a drink following a strikeout, writing books about steroids, and snorting lines of coke a la the ’86 Mets. “Mario is truly a one-of-a-kind character; clearly fans can’t get enough of him and his friends,” enthused Cammie Dunaway, NOA’s Exec-VP of S&M. “We’re giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him,” in much the same way fans would have enjoyed Pennant Chase Baseball three years ago if Nintendo had bothered to release it.
