Nintendo races toward digital distribution, hits self with red shell
Siliconera reports that the DSi and Wii’s digital distribution systems will apparently not be interacting at all.
The newly renamed Nintendo Points will be redeemable on both the Wii and upcoming DSi, but there will be no way to move points from one device to the other, or otherwise maintain one points total between the two systems. This would seem to indicate that there is no planned “Nintendo ID” that would work between both systems, as well as quashing almost all hope that there might be some way to access and play already-purchased Virtual Console games on the go. I guess there’s always firmware updates, but there has thusfar been no indication that the DSi will be receiving those.
