Chainsaw arms! (Releases for the week of March 10)

by Cory Birdsong on

All around me are dismembered faces, bloody spike pits, bloody faces

his week sees the release of a notable Wii title: Platinum Games’ MadWorld, which casts the player in the role of a black-and-white-and-red chainsaw-armed mechanic. No idea what the chainsaw-in-arm setup does for that line of work, but the game looks fun and it appears to be a critical darling. Nintendorks hopes to have impressions up shortly after Gamefly sends me the game.

Other notable Wii releases are the Gamecube ports of Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis, which arrive with fancy motion controls, widescreen support, and a $30 price point. If you haven’t played them, you should probably go buy them. (Especially Pikmin!)

The DS seems to be a wasteland this week, as far as releases worth paying attention to. However, there are hilariously titled games like Dream Day: Wedding Destinations and Jake Power: Handyman.

Digitally, WiiWare receives a Mega Man 9-style 16-bit Gradius game in Gradius ReBirth for 1000 points/$10, and the Virtual Console rocks the Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars from the Master System for 500 points/$5.
